  How Root & Rise collects, uses, and protects your information.

Root & Rise Sensory Solutions LLC ("Root & Rise," "we," "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of the families who trust us with their information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over your information.

This policy applies to rootandrisesensory.com and all Root & Rise programs, courses, and community spaces, including The Greenhouse on Kajabi.

 

  1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Name and email address — when you opt in to our email list, download the free intro video, or create a Kajabi account.
  • Purchase and billing information — collected by our payment processor (Stripe via Kajabi). Root & Rise never stores your full credit card number.
  • Program information — responses to intake forms, worksheets, or check-ins within Seedling, Taproot, or The Greenhouse
  • Communications — questions or messages you send us via email or within the Kajabi community

Information collected automatically

  • Website analytics — pages visited, time on site, referring URL, browser type. Collected via analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics or Kajabi's built-in analytics) to help us understand how people find and use our site.
  • Email engagement data — whether emails were opened or links were clicked, collected through our email platform to help us improve our communications
  • Voice messaging communications — voice and text messages exchanged via WhatsApp as part of the Taproot Intensive. These messages may contain personal information about you, your child, and your family’s home environment that you choose to share in the course of the program.

 

  1. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver the programs, courses, and digital products you purchased or requested
  • Send you emails you opted in to receive — including the free video, educational content, program updates, and occasional offers related to Root & Rise programs
  • Communicate with you about your enrollment, sessions, or community participation
  • Improve our website, programs, and communications based on how they are used
  • Respond to your questions and provide customer support

 

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever.

 

  1. The Information You Share in Programs

In Taproot and The Greenhouse, you may share personal information about your family, your child, and your home situation. We treat this information with care and confidentiality.

Information shared in 1:1 Taproot sessions is held in confidence by Melissa Summers and is not shared with any third party except as required by law. 

  • Information shared via WhatsApp voice messaging during the Taproot Intensive is treated with the same confidentiality as information shared during Google Meet sessions. Voice messages may include personal observations about your child’s behavior, home environment, and family dynamics. This information is held in confidence by Melissa Summers and is not shared with any third party except as required by law. Please be aware that WhatsApp voice messages are stored on WhatsApp’s servers and on the devices of both the sender and recipient. Root & Rise does not control WhatsApp’s data handling, encryption, or retention practices.

Information shared in The Greenhouse community is visible to other Greenhouse members. Please share only what you are comfortable with other community members seeing. Root & Rise encourages all members to keep each other's shared information confidential within the community (see Community Standards in our Terms of Service).

Root & Rise does not share information about your child with any third party, including schools, clinicians, or other service providers, without your explicit written consent.

 

  1. Third-Party Platforms We Use

Root & Rise uses the following platforms to operate our business. Each platform processes some of your data in order to provide their services to us. We choose platforms with strong privacy and security practices.

  • Kajabi (kajabi.com) — our course delivery, community, and membership platform. Kajabi hosts The Greenhouse, Seedling, and Taproot program content and manages your account login.
  • Stripe — payment processing via Kajabi. Stripe handles all payment transactions securely. Root & Rise does not store your payment card details.
  • Email platform (Google Gmail) — for sending our newsletter and program communications to subscribers who have opted in.
  • Google Analytics or Kajabi Analytics — for anonymous website usage tracking.

  • WhatsApp (whatsapp.com) — used for asynchronous voice and text messaging between Taproot Intensive clients and Melissa Summers. WhatsApp is owned by Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption for messages, meaning Root & Rise cannot access message content through WhatsApp’s servers. Messages are stored on the devices of both parties. WhatsApp’s privacy policy is available at whatsapp.com/privacy.

We do not authorize any of these platforms to use your personal data for their own marketing purposes.

 

  1. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Unsubscribe — you may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. You will continue to receive transactional emails (e.g. receipts, program access) until your account is closed.
  • Access — you may request a copy of the personal information Root & Rise holds about you.
  • Correction — you may request that we correct any inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion — you may request that we delete your personal data. We will do so within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal, tax, or financial compliance purposes.
  • Withdrawal of consent — where we process your data based on your consent (e.g. marketing emails), you may withdraw that consent at any time.

  1. Children's Privacy

Root & Rise programs are designed for parents and caregivers — adults who are learning on behalf of their children. We do not market directly to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.

While parents may share information about their children in the course of participating in our programs (particularly Taproot), that information is treated as the parent's information and is subject to the same protections described in this policy.

If you believe that a child under 13 has submitted personal information to Root & Rise, please contact us immediately at melissa@rootandrisesensory.com and we will take steps to remove that information.

 

  1. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. These measures include:

  • Encrypted website connections (HTTPS) on rootandrisesensory.com
  • Secure account authentication through Kajabi
  • Payment processing through Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant
  • Limiting access to your personal information to Melissa Summers and any authorized team members who need it to operate Root & Rise programs

No method of data transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

 

  1. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specifically:

  • Email list subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Course and program access records: retained for the duration of your access period
  • Purchase and payment records: retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes, even after account closure
  • Taproot session notes: retained for 3 years after program completion, then deleted

  • WhatsApp voice and text messages: deleted from Melissa’s device within 60 days of program completion. Written session notes derived from voice message exchanges are retained for 3 years after program completion, consistent with the retention period for all Taproot session records.

If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except for records we are required to retain under applicable law.

 

  1. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy at rootandrisesensory.com and notify active subscribers via email at least 14 days before changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was most recently revised.
